We’re going to meet an adoption worker!
On August 12, 2013, I started the adoption process. It started with a phone call to Family & Children’s Services of the Waterloo Region, followed by an application sent in September 2013, PRIDE training from February 2014 – April 2014, and a home study that took eight months to complete.
Our homestudy was very involved, given my “interesting” background. I had multiple interviews, had to go find a registered therapist, meet her a few times an get an OK from her indicating that I am stable enough to adopt, had to do medical checks and police checks for all people living in my house (including my brother in law who lived in the basement). Our homestudy wrapped up earlier this month.
Now finally, we got a call from an adoption worker to meet next week. It’s a meet and greet where they get to know us, understand what we are looking for and what we can handle. I am excited and nervous at the same time!
